So You Want To Be A College Scholar Athlete

So You Want To Be A College Scholar Athlete by Coach Fermon Tate Jr. is a short manual guide for high school athletes looking forward to a career in athletics at a division I, II or III school. It is filled with helpful content and provides them with a lot of useful tools and information to help them get on the right career path.

The Challenge

In order to move forward with publishing, the client was looking for a dynamic book cover design as well as an interior layout that effectively displayed the numerous graphs, tables, diagrams and charts inside the book. A calendar was also developed along with a poster layout to help promote the school programs.

The Solution

For the book cover we decided on something dynamic, motivational and energetic that also conveys the diversity in athletics. The cover depicts people of different ethnic backgrounds participating in various physical activities with dynamic poses. It allows the reader to feel represented, no matter what race. It also allows the reader to relate to the characters in the cover as well as the strong emotions being expressed through athletics. The manual was printed on a spiral-bound cover and distributed during events as well as online

As part of the project, a Pan-African themed school calendar was created which can be previewed below. We chose this theme since it is an HBCU. Each month also had a superstar athlete to represent it. We also developed a poster for the 2017 Women’s Cross Country Champions.
